Venom is a 2018 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment, Tencent Pictures, Arad Productions, Matt Tolmach Productions, and Pascal Pictures, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.
It is the first film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay written by Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. The movie stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and Venom alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott.

Venom Movie Synopsis
In this movie, struggling journalist Eddie gains superpowers after becoming host to an alien symbiote named Venom, whose species plans to conquer Earth.
The story begins when a probe belonging to the bio-engineering company Life Foundation discovers a comet protected by a symbiotic life form. The probe returned to Earth with four samples, but one escaped and caused the ship to crash in Malaysia. Life Foundation retrieved the other three samples and transported them to their research facility in San Francisco, where they discovered that the symbiote could not survive without an oxygen-breathing host, which often fatally rejected its symbiosis.
Investigative journalist Eddie Brock read about these human trials in confidential documents in the possession of his fiancée, Anne Weying, a lawyer who was preparing the defense in a lawsuit against Life Foundation. Eddie confronts Life Foundation's CEO, Carlton Drake, about these trials, which results in Eddie and Anne losing their jobs. As a result, Anne ended their relationship.
Six months later, Drake's symbiosis trial is close to success, although one of his symbiotes dies due to negligence. Eddie is approached by Dora Skirth, one of Drake's scientists, who disagrees with his methods and wants to reveal them. She helps Eddie break into the research facility to look for evidence, and he learns that an acquaintance of his, a homeless woman named Maria, is one of the test subjects. Eddie tries to save Maria, but the symbiote that possesses her passes into his body without him realizing it, causing Maria's death.
Eddie escapes and soon starts showing strange symptoms. He seeks help from Anne, and Anne's new boyfriend, Dr. Dan Lewis, discovers the symbiote while examining Eddie. Dr. Drake reveals Skirth to the remaining captive symbiote, killing both. This leaves the symbiote inside Eddie as the only specimen known to be alive.
Drake sends mercenaries to take the symbiote from Eddie, but the symbiote appears around his body as a savage creature that fights the attackers. Later, the symbiote introduces itself as Venom and explains that the comet is looking for a planet where the symbiote can hold and eat its inhabitants. Venom offers to forgive Eddie if he helps the symbiote achieve its goal, and Eddie uses the superhuman abilities granted by the symbiote.
Eddie returns to his old workplace to hand over evidence of Drake's crimes, but is surrounded by SWAT officers. Anne sees him change to escape and takes Eddie to Lewis' office, where they explain that the symbiote is decomposing Eddie's internal organs. Eddie notes that the symbiote has two weaknesses: high voice and fire. Despite Venom's claim that the organ damage is reversible, Anne uses the MRI machine to separate them, and then Eddie is captured by Drake's men.
