The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes fills in the plot holes that existed in the previous 4 films. This prequel to The Hunger Game takes place 64 years before the 74th Hunger Games featuring Katniss Everdeen begins.

Long before Katniss Everdeen was born, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow was known as a handsome young man from a respectable family. Unfortunately, Snow's respected family was destroyed after the Capitol war.
Snow, who fell into poverty, got the opportunity to change his fate and restore pride to his family name. Snow was chosen as a mentor for the 10th Hunger Game.
But the opportunity brings a dilemma because the tribute he must mentor is District 12, the poorest region in Panem. At first, Snow is reluctant to mentor Lucy Gray from District 12. However, Lucy Gray is no ordinary girl.
Lucy Gray has the ability and charm to make her immediately become the center of attention and the favorite tribute of the Capitol residents. Snow was captivated by Lucy Gray's figure.
Snow did everything she could to help Lucy Gray survive the game. Even Snow did not hesitate to break the rules to sacrifice the honorable name of his family.
The romance between participants and mentors between Snow and Lucy also colors the film The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Moreover, the story between the two has many obstacles including the different social status of the two.
