The franchise is considered to be an iconic horror thriller with extreme gore elements.

For almost two decades, the 10 Saw movie series used a similar approach.

Made with a small budget of only around 13 million US dollars, the film has managed to earn a lucrative profit.

In its US premiere last week, Saw X has grossed over $43.8 million worldwide, with the US grossing $32.5 million.

However, the question is whether Saw X will meet the expectations of its loyal fans this time?

Saw X Synopsis For those who have never seen a Saw movie before, it is important to know that Saw X is a prequel set between Saw (2004) and Saw II (2006).

Sax X has a simpler story narrative than other Saw films, such as Saw (2004) for example.

In this latest movie, John Kramer (Tobin Bell), who is suffering from cancer, is trying to find a way to recover.

One day, he meets an old friend who has recovered from stage 4 cancer through an experimental treatment in Mexico, despite the high risk.

Intrigued by his old friend's story, John Kramer then flies to Mexico to do the experimental treatment.

However, unlucky for John, when he arrived in Mexico he discovered that this treatment was run by a group of fraudsters.

Although it turns out to be a set-up, bad luck seems to be on the side of the Mexican scammers as John then looks for ways to avenge them through a number of bloody traps.

Return of an iconic character Fans of the Saw franchise will recognize the main character Jigsaw, played by Tobin Bell. Despite being 81 years old, Tobin Bell still looks excellent in this movie.

In addition to the character of Jigsaw, the Saw X film also features the return of the character John Kramer who was told to die in the Saw III (2006) film.

Although previously rumored to have died in Saw III (2006), John Kramer's character is still alive, as revealed in Jigsaw released in 2017.

Apart from John, Saw X also brings back the iconic characters of the Saw cinema universe, namely Amanda and Detective Mark Hoffman.

Amanda's character has appeared since Saw (2004), Saw II (2006), Saw III (2006), and Saw VI (2010).

Detective Mark Hoffman, meanwhile, has appeared since Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), Saw V (2008), Saw VI (2010), and Saw 3D (2010).

The return of these iconic characters is certainly a fan service in itself for fans of this film, as if brought back to the heyday of this franchise a decade ago.

An engaging and satisfying narrative to the end Despite its simple premise, Saw X is very interesting to follow and satisfying overall.

The movie shows John Kramer's personal moral struggles, especially towards the people who have been lying to him. This affects the meandering storyline after the first half of the movie.

Amanda's role becomes brighter in this movie, as she becomes a reliable protegé after being saved by John Kramer in the first test in the first movie.

The victims this time are the chosen ones who deserve to be tested further by John Kramer.

Moral ambiguity is getting thinner, as if there is no limit between right and wrong. Do they deserve to be punished for their actions? The decision is in John Kramer's hands.
