Netflix Korea officially aired the first teaser for the Squid Game season 2 series today, Sunday (6/18/2023).

In the inaugural teaser, the Squid Game season 2 cast was also announced. There are some old players like Lee Jung Jae (Seong Gi Hun), Lee Byung Hun (Front Man) and Wi Ha Joon (Hwang Jun Ho).

Surprisingly, Gong Yoo, who appeared in season 1, returns as the mysterious man in a suit who originally invited Gi-hun to play the game.

The four new cast members of Squid Game 2 are Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon and Yang Dong-geun. Unfortunately, it has not been explained more about their characters.

Squid Game Season 2 Synopsis In season one, Squid Game told the story of 456 debt-ridden and desperate people who joined a survival game.

They have the opportunity to take home 45.6 billion Korean won ($551.3 billion) if they win a series of six matches. However, they will die if they lose.

The Squid Game takes place in an undisclosed location, and each contestant is not allowed to leave until the game ends or until a winner is crowned.

The story of Squid Game begins when Gi Hoon (Lee Jung Jae) is fired from his job. He is said to have a pretty miserable life like the other contestants.

When his life was at the bottom, he then heard about a survival game with a prize of 45.g billion won.

Sang Woo (Park Hae Soo) is a relative that Gi Hun has considered as a younger sibling. Sang Woo actually graduated from a prestigious university, he also works quite well with a promising salary.

But suddenly, Sang Woo had a crisis at work due to misappropriation of funds.

Sang Woo and Ki Hoon then decided to join the survival game, hoping that they would be able to win the game and get the grand prize.

While in Squid Game season 2, the director is still keeping the storyline a secret. However, it is predicted that it will continue the ending of season 1 when Gi Hun, wearing a new red hairstyle, wants to defeat the people behind Squid Game.

In addition, it may also tell the story of GiHun choosing to stay in Korea rather than joining his daughter in the US.

Squid Game's executive producer, Kim Ji-yeon, had revealed that the second season will present a more global story to be enjoyed by a diverse audience from around the world.

"I know that many different fans and viewers really enjoy the series, but we're really focusing on how to make it more enjoyable for a global audience," she explained.

Hwang also shared that the iconic Squid Game deadly girl doll, Young-hee, will also be present along with her partner, Cheol-su.

"You will also be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend Cheol-su," he wrote on the squidgamenetflix Instagram account.

Squid Game Season 2 Schedule Netflic has not officially announced when Squid Game season 2 will air, however, director Hwang Dong-hyuk did give a leak.

Hwang said Squid Game Season 2 will premiere in 2024.

"We will start filming Season 2 next year (in 2023) and it will be released the following year," Hwang said.
